When it comes to recording there is definitely a lot that happens in the immediate moment and you can make discoveries along the way. It certainly does come alive as you record (hopefully) and this book in particular had enjoyable characters and an element of performance about it. It is still knackering however.

As for Scrabble, this is how I felt last game. I'll try and finish it quickly but feel free to resign and start another if it's too painful!William Rycrofthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15056188088340973039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534509012046591314.post-33635270458248659262011-01-19T20:48:41.500+00:002011-01-19T20:48:41.500+00:00Will, what a fascinating angle to approach writing...Will, what a fascinating angle to approach writing about a book from ... I'm intrigued, does the book come alive for you as you are reading it out loud, or are you focusing too much on the work aspect of it to think about that?
BTW I am VERY unimpressed with the latest game of Scrabble, could you just hurry up and win so we can move on... it's like pulling my own teeth out every time I log on:-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534509012046591314.post-77598738728562545452011-01-19T18:31:47.542+00:002011-01-19T18:31:47.542+00:00Great review...Cover artwork not too shabby either...Great review...Cover artwork not too shabby either!ChasingtheCrayonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01740801257957382613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534509012046591314.post-14990430235738102092011-01-18T19:25:45.008+00:002011-01-18T19:25:45.008+00:00With difficulty, is the short answer! Because the footnotes are like asides where he expounds on his theories and ideas about human nature/capitalism etc I tried to make a slight adjustment in tone and pace. Hopefully that way they are different enough to be clear but not so much that it interrupts the flow of the story. I think there was only one occasion where we moved the position of the asterisk as it came mid-sentence and made it impossible to come back in without sounding very odd indeed.

Hope you enjoy the printed version Kevin. I thoroughly enjoyed Vernon God Little and didn't hate the next book as much as everyone else did, so I was cautiously looking forward to this one. Your "review" (I love the reportorial format) has heightened that expectation, without making it to excessive. If it is all right with you, I think I'll read the printed version rather than the audio.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
